Program
swancon is 100% community run, organised and programed. That means it is programmed by you! All panels, presentations and events are developed from community suggestions, and, along with our guests, our panelists and presenters are all Swancon members and attendees.
Phase 1 – community suggestion gathering

Right now we are in the phase of community suggestion gathering. Swancon50 had a jam packed program full of engaging presentations, riveting discussions and fun interactive activities. We want to keep the momentum going and would like to hear from you about what you would like us to continue or repeat net year, along with any suggestions for new panels and activities.
Phase 2 – Refining and voting
Draft list of suggestions and proposed panels list released to the public for feedback. From here we will refine the lit and prioritise the most popular items for inclusion on the program. Please note, while we will prioritise community preferences there may be other factors that contribute to the program such as availability of panelists and presenters, inclusion of traditional or necessary items (e.g. WASFF agm) and committee discretion to keep the program focussed and on theme.
phase 3 – panelist sourcing and confirming
During this phase we connect with suggested panelists and confirm program items. If panelists are not available or items are non vibale for any reason we will look to the next most popular items to fill the program
phase 4 – finalisation
This is the final phase of community consultation, we will release the draft program for comment and ask for feedback about things such as timings and clashes.
Friday Evening Social Celebrations
Friday evening will be a chance to get the party started. While the formal convention will not start until the Saturday morning, Friday night will provide an optional opportunity to attend a ‘meet the guests’ pre-con dinner (separately ticketed), followed by casual drinks at the bar (cash bar, open to the community), and a few informal pre-con panels
Saturday Program
Saturday programing starts with an official opening ceremony, followed by a full day of panels, presentations, workshops, family friendly activities, tabletop gaming – free play and tournaments, a full schedule of video gaming, indi game developer demonstrations, an art show and a fully stocked traders area. Then in the evening we will continue the celebrations with a Masquerade Party where you can dance all night to music played by our DJs. Due to success of the Swancon50 cabaret we will again be planning a special mid-masquerade performance from our talented fan community.
Sunday Program
Sunday continues the program of panels, presentations, workshops, family friendly activities, tabletop gaming – free play and tournaments, a full schedule of video gaming, indi game developer demonstrations, an art show and the traders area. The Sunday evening highlight is the presentation of the Tin Duck and Ditmar Awards – Western Australia and National fan voted awards for the years best works of SF creativity. This will conclude the formal conference programing
Monday Program
Monday the 7th is a public holiday in WA and thus we will be hosting a special social event for those that would like to keep the Swancon shenanigans going. Details of the event are, at this stage, to be confirmed, and we will follow up with the traditional -not quite dead- dog after party on Monday night.
